From yesterdays preparations for my exhibition "Waterworlds - Wasserwelten" starting May in the Gruntvighaus, Sassnitz - found that in the december file. Think it is little bit better than the already shown ones.

Happy Fluttery Friday!

This was the first Yellow Swallowtail (Papilio machaon) I saw this year and the first I captured with the my 400D. Don't miss the large size (or even the original) to enjoy the details of its wings. But I know I can do better: next time I promise I'll get the right wing in focus, too :-)

it started yesterday......a brush fire, just south of us, has burned about 1500 acres in 24 hours. I had to drive down the road to get this shot.......we still can't open any windows........the fire is still burning & only 15% contained,as of 8 AM this morning....

I recently took a photo of The Peace Tree and then sit and have some fun with layers and adding the hole in the grass, the dirt, rocks, roots, and came up with these results.

Bald Eagle

Near Haines, Alaska. Cannon 20D, 300mm and the ISO cranked up to 1600 because there was a heavy overcast. This magnificent specimen had just taken off from a low branch and I was estatic that he came so close. We saw several eagles this day, but all the rest were at a greater distance and didn't put on any photogenic shows for us. I like the parallel diagonal lines formed by the trees, the left wing, the clouds and the mountains dramatically cut by the perpendicular diagonal formed by the right wing. I lucked out and was at the right place at the right time. Better when viewed large.
